It is with sincere regret to declare that the book ‘Red Sun On The Kangaroo Paw’ is now going ‘Out of Print’.  Since its original release in 2009 it has been quite a very popular seller for the author. A very important part of Western Australian history has now been researched, captured and preserved for posterity. Kevin Gomm wishes to thank all good readers who purchased and read the book. Only a selected amount of copies will still be available from the Broome Historical Society Museum for the time being. Should you wish to still purchase a copy of this wonderful title the Broome Museum can contacted at or by phone on 08 9192 2075. Digger Press again sincerely thanks all good readers and apologises for any inconvenience. There are of course copies of the book in selected libraries around Australia. Please contact your local library for details.

In all eight towns were targeted culminating in a total of 17 raids - 16 by air and 1 submarine shelling. Today most of these towns from Wyndham to Exmouth, Broome, Port Hedland and Derby are more readily identified as favourite holiday or fishing destinations, but between 1942 and 1943 they were at the frontline of attack. Each is thoroughly examined raid by raid, town by town, chapter by chapter.

Also covered are Japanese naval operations off the immediate WA coastline and in the Southern Ocean along with the accounts of Allied attempts to stem the enemy threat with the construction of secret airstrips such as Corunna Downs and Cunderdin. At 310 pages, with more maps, accounts, researched information and over 100 photographs both in colour and black & white.
